This week I’ve started my internship in NYC with CBS News and I’m super excited to get that lovely “real world experience” that everyone talks about. Their way of welcoming us to New York? Tickets to a movie premiere! Ironically, it was a screening of The Internship – Vince Vaughn even showed up to chat for a bit.
The hardest part of my transition here (besides cooking for myself daily) has been dealing with the fact that I don’t really know what the future has in store for me. Even though that’s the case for everyone, I’m a big planner. I look before I leap, I love order and discipline (lyrics from a Rent song “Take Me or Leave Me“ lol) but it’s true! My head is spinning because everything is so unknown to me right now. I’m in a strange new city, but instead of traveling and learning a language, I’m doing something that will impact my future (hopefully for the better!). I don’t know how I’ll reach the goals I have for myself nor do I know when. What I do know is that my goal for next week is to just take everything in stride. I know that “everything will happen in time” la-de-da, but I really want to take those words to heart.
Check out my quick shot of Times Square at night on the way to the premiere:
As we go on, we remember… that we graduated and won’t have to wake up at 5:00 in the morning anymore to get to class! We’re always reminded how our time in high school will “fly” and we won’t even “realize” when we “reach senior year.” I didn’t believe it until it happened to me.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is my attempt at a “smize“.
This week I have been mildly obsessed with soccer/football/futbol. FC Barcelona has had an amazing few days: the team tied Real Madrid’s record of 100 points in one season – and scored their highest number of goals in a year, 115. If you thought their week couldn’t get any better, Brazilian wunderkind Neymar officially joined their roster for a whopping 57 million euros (that is, $74 million)!
Oh, and did you hear about David Beckham hanging all around Miami these past few days? He just retired his own cleats but he’s been visiting our amazing city to look into opening a new MLS franchise here. We had one back in 1998-2001 but that ended quickly after games had poor attendance. Hopefully we’ve smartened up and won’t lose this opportunity to have Posh move to the 3-0-5 O-M-G a new team represent us.
To top it all off, Haiti and Spain will be playing at Sun Life Stadium tomorrow, June 8 at 4PM! A dollar from each ticket sale will go toward Project Phoenix, an organization that trains young Haitian soccer players and plans to build a national team stadium in Cité Soleil. You can buy tickets here or by calling the box office at 305-943-8000. Tip: Avoid the ~$10 service charge by purchasing them at the stadium. You can also have someone pick out the best available seats for you in person.
See you tomorrow!
Are you the embodiment of Abnegation? Amity? Candor? Dauntless? Erudite? Or… are you Divergent?
I caught the Divergent bug a bit late but I am now obsessed. I am surprisingly not yet over the dystopian/post-apocalyptic genre trend and author Veronica Roth created an amazing story (that I am still reading). If you want to check the book out before you buy, Harper Collins has the first 100 pages online which you can read here.
Filming for the movie (starring the likes of Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet, Zoe Kravitz, and Ashley Judd) has also begun and this week, a new still of an epic scene in the book came out. I think I officially can’t wait until March 2014.
What’s been on your mind this week? Sharing is caring!
P.S. Don’t forget about our Summer Giveaway!
