Swim Week is finally officially over. This was my first time attending the official Mercedes Benz yearly festivities and it was a learning experience to say the least. There were tons of shows to attend, lounges to relax, and people… tons of people – some of who weren’t exactly friendly. But that’s a story for another day.
I first set out into the Swim Week melee last Thursday to attend some Funkshion shows at the SLS. They were originally scheduled to begin at 8pm, but didn’t start until around 10:30pm. Pretty crazy even for Miami time, right? Anyway, once the shows were underway, they went off without a hitch and I was pleasantly surprised at what I saw.
There were a lot of pieces in the Barraca Chic collection. If you’re looking for a statement swimsuit, then this is probably not the swimsuit line for you. However, all of the suits were pretty in a very minimalistic way.
Jenna Colina was a little more adventurous with their silhouettes in comparison to Barraca Chic. Some of the suits included small accessories to add a little spunk to the otherwise simple styles.
Toxic Sadie was my favorite collection of the night. The models came onto the runway by breaking through some Toxic Sadie yellow tape. Yes, it was a little cheesy, but in a good way! Besides, all of the pieces were pretty unique so they could get away with it. There were cut out shapes, bold prints, circular embellishments, you name it.

Now onto #MBFWSwim — the official reason for swim week! I attended my first Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim show (ever!) on Friday and it was definitely my favorite. I think I loved every piece that came out more than the last! The shapes of the swimsuits were so different and the use of sassy prints, solid colors and nude/sheer panel combos, and bright colors was amazing. Here’s lookin’ at you, Suboo!

Alrighty guys! This was part 1 of 2 of my Swim Week recap. Stay tuned for part 2 tomorrow. Until then, tell me, what was your favorite piece from the ones I shared? Did you attend any swim week events?
